ROYALTY - ELIZABETH II - Superb and Rare Document of Elizabeth II

ROYALTY - ELIZABETH II - Superb and Rare Document of Elizabeth II. Calligraphic document on a single leaf of vellum, approx. 560x420mm being the appointment of Mary Danvers Stocks to be Baroness Stocks of Kensington and Chelsea, dated January 17th 1966. Featuring a superb calligraphic initial letter 'E' containing the Royal Coat of Arms, embellished in gold, and with the full seal of the Queen attached by its original green plaited cord. The seal measures 155mm diameter and features an effigy of the enthroned Queen with the Crown, Orb and Septre to the obverse and a depiction of the Queen on horseback on the reverse. The seal is contained in leather bound box featuring a gold embossed Coat of Arms. Also with the original printed Writ, summoning Baroness Stocks to attend Parliament, featuring a blind embossed seal of the Queen. The whole contained in its original leather clad wooden box (in need of a little repair). Documents and seal can be easily removed for framing if required. Documents of this nature rarely appear on the market and this is particularly finely crafted as a superb example of modern calligraphy. Ironically, the Great Seal of Elizabeth II is scarcer on the market than that of Elizabeth I.
