An important letter in which Sassoon looks back at the days of his childhood '…I know that this violent, noisy modern England is in much ways better but O for a month's holiday now & then in that unhurrying environment ! (which I recalled in my book 'The Old Country')… however I manage to keep pretty quiet in the old mansion which I bought 25 years ago…those little books of mine should sell quite well at Sotheby's - they usually fetch 10 or 15 pounds each…'
