Note William Traies (1782-1872), an English painter, was born in Crediton in Devon in 1789. Traies gained a reputation as The Devon Claude through his well-conceived, romantic and idealized landscapes. Traies exhibited at the RA and The Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.
