1939 Rare and Famous Wartime Four Nations Rugby Programme

1939 Rare and Famous Wartime Four Nations Rugby Programme: Hugely desirable E/W v S/I Red Cross Match issue from Richmond, Dec 1939 during the ‘phoney war’. E/W won 17-3, with a smart programme having what was often also a wartime Scottish cover, Forsyth’s again covering the issue’s expenses. 8pp, with player pictures, though several changes occurred between those and the (correct) team pages being printed; eg Wooller, Clement & Davies out, Davey, Prescott & the legendary (soon to be a fatality) Prince Alex Obolensky in. Blair ‘Paddy’ Mayne also featured, but from these teams, as well as ‘Obo’, Teden, Penman and Sayers were all killed in action. Eng/Wales skipper Gus Walker lost an arm and Brydon spent five years as a PoW. Lovely condition, fine memorabilia
