1963 Inaugural Women’s Netball World Championship Tournament signed card by the winners Australia – hosted by England in Eastbourne – single folded made up card which has mistaken printed Basket Ball and Not Net ball “Australian Basket Ball Team International tournament” signed inside by the entire Australian Team, incl Manager, Coach and Umpire (13) as follows: Gweneth Benzie - Team manager - Awarded IFNA service award in 1983, AANA service award 1965 and order of Australia - inducted into hall of fame in 2009; Coach - Lorna McConchie - inducted in the Australian Netball hall of fame in 2009; Umpire - Miss Margaret Morris - at the 1963 World Netball Championships; Capt Margaret Caldow - Captained Australia for 8 yrs, National Assistant coach - Australia, Coached England at the 2007 World Championships, a member of the sport Australia hall of fame, Awarded the British Empire Medal , inducted into the hall of fame in 2008; Annette Foley - player , two time world champion, regarded as one of the finest defensive players ever produced in Western Australia, inducted into the Australian Netball hall of fame in 2012; Joyce Brown (rubber stamp signature) - Player and captain - 1992 medal of the order of Australia (OAM) for services to sports, inducted into the Australian hall of fame in 2008; Ingrid Tough – player; Val Eaton; Madeleine Wilson; Wilma Shakespear - (nee Ritchie) player, coached Australia to 3 world championships (Gold 1971 Jamaica, Gold 1979 Trinidad & Tobago, Silver 1987 Glasgow) Netball Australia service award in 1989, inducted into the hall of fame in 2010; June Noseda - player - inducted into Australia Hall of Fame in 2011; Jeanette Mclver – player; Corrin Fleming – player – a wonderful piece of history which has seen the sport develop over the years beyond everyone’s imagination. Note- Since its inception the competition has been dominated primarily by the Australian national netball team (the Diamonds) and the New Zealand national netball team (the Silver Ferns), as of the 2019 event having both medalled in every one of the 15 championships – Trinidad and Tobago is the only other team to have won a title (a three-way tie in the 1979 championship. The most recent tournament was the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England, which was won by New Zealand.
