India & Punjab – Signed Note by Lord Dalhousie to Sir Henry Hardinge A handwritten note between two leading figures in the Sikh Wars. Letter from James Broun-Ramsay, Marques of Dalhousie(1812 -1860) the Governor General of India to the former Governor General Sir Henry Hardinge. Note addressed to Lord Viscount Hardinge G.C.B, signed Believe me, my dear Lord, your sincerely Dalhousie. Lord Dalhousie was Governor General from 1848 under whose leadership the Second Anglo Sikh War was won and the Punjab was annexed. The note written to his predecessor Viscount Hardinge who was the Governor General of India at the time of the First Anglo Sikh War. C.1848, paper residue on reverse, measures 23cms x 18cms
