Large Quantity of Scarce Indian Textile Labels ‘Tickets’ and ‘Labels’ a quantity of interesting Indian textile labels or tickets as known in the trade, designed in India and Printed in Britain [c. early 20thC], colourful, from a fragile glossed paper based material with British titles, to include Thomas Aston & Sons Manchester, Ashton Hoare & Co Ltd Calcutta, Hoare. Miller & Co, predominantly stuck to fabric, some further reference numbers printed alongside, many of the same design, folded with card cased with order numbers present to some, labels are generally good as folded in fabric, cases are poor to some, quantity, ideal for framing (#75+) Note: For further details please read an article ‘Labelling Legends’, especially to the image, ~Broker Label~ p47. The Hindu merchant is sitting with bales of British made imported cotton fabric printed to mimic traditional Indian designs and beside him is the labels (tickets), Indian-designed but British-printed, which he will affix to the fabric.
