1761 The Edinburgh Evening Courant Golfing Announcement – dated Monday, March 9th 1761, announcing that William St Clair of Roslin had won the Silver Club, played for on the Links of Leith (Note: This was the first time St Clair won the Silver Club, becoming captain for the ensuing year. He won it a further 3 times and is immortalised by the famous portrait by Sir George Chalmers) See Page 2 / Col. 3. Together with 1764 The Gazetter and London Daily Advertiser – dated March 19th, announcing that Mr Colin Campbell had won the Silver Club and ‘was accordingly saluted Captain of the Company for the ensuing year’.
