Ephemera – Lancaster – Lune Ship Building Company – invitation to launch of iron ship “Wennington” 1865. Attractive gold, blue and red porcelain coated invitation card, size 6” x 4.5”. Plus Dinner Menu attractively in gold and blue. They ate well, Lobster, Oysters, Duck, Tongue, Trout, Turkey, Westphalia Ham etc. The Wennington was the first ship constructed by the then new Lune Shipbuilding Company. Launched before at exited 15,000 crowd. Owned by Wilson & Co of Liverpool. She sailed mostly between Britain Australia and New Zealand until lost off the Bali Straits in 1878.
