Ephemera – The Dee Bridge collapse. Near Chester 1847. A detailed article with two illustrations and section engineering drawing regarding this accident in complete 14 page edition of “The Illustrated London News”. Size 11” x 15.75”. A local train with 5 coaches mostly fell into the River Dee with the loss of lives of 5 passengers due to the collapse of the bridge. A Historic accident because the girders were constructed of cast iron and engineers learnt from this accident to only construct horizontal railway girders from wrought iron or steel.
