Ephemera – The Dee Bridge collapse. Near Chester 1847. A detailed article with two illustrations and section engineering drawing regarding this accident in complete 14 page edition of “The Illustrated London News”. Size 11” x 15.75”. A local train with 5 coaches mostly fell into the River Dee with the loss of lives of 5 passengers due to the collapse of the bridge. A Historic accident because the girders were constructed of cast iron and engineers learnt from this accident to only construct horizontal railway girders from wrought iron or steel. In good clean condition.
