Ephemera – The Society of Arts awards its Isis medal

Ephemera – The Society of Arts awards its Isis medal. 1820. Addressed to Miss M. Copland inviting her to attend the award committee to demonstrate her skill (she was awarded the medal, in class 2 for a landscape in oil). Allegorical vignette Isis and Britannia with kneeling supplicant submitting his work of art. Hand signed by Dr Arthur Aikin (1773-1854) who studied with Priestly and specialized in mineralogy and botany. One of the founders of the Geological Society, member of the Linnean Society, he was secretary of the Society of Arts for 23 years from 1817. Size 7.25” x 10”.  In good clean condition.
