Ephemera – Customs and Excise fine example of an ms excise receipt for Plate, Wine and Starch signed by six commissioners, including James Vernon, Secretary of State. No date but early 18th c. On paper approx 24x20cms, paper a little browned but otherwise in good condition, together with an interesting document issued by the Customs House in Cowes dated February 15th 1862, in the form of a letter to P H Berthon of Trinity House London informing him that the log books of the Pilot Cutters of the district had been forwarded to him by railway. The document lists each ship by name.
