Body Snatchers edition of the Norwich Mercury for July 19th 1823 with an extensive report on the trial and conviction of Joseph Nicholls Collins and Thomas Crowe (called by the paper ‘Resurrection Men’) for stealing the body of Thomas Brundall from Lakenham Church. The report carries all the evidence against them as well as a defence submission that what they were doing would further medical science. They were convicted and given the remarkably lenient sentence of a ?50 fine plus 3 months in prison. The paper also features a very fine advertisement for the Phoenix Stage Coach.
