Scarce Sir Isaac Newton 1642-1727 signed letter to Sir Richard stating 'I received just now a letter from Mr Burdell your secretary whereby I am desired to meet you and Sir Cloudsly Shovell for examining a proposal of Monsier Burden about finding the longitude and am ready to wait upon you when and where you shall please to appoint, I am your most humble servant Is Newton', with 'Mint Office dated August 12 99' to the top centre, a hand written note stuck on canvas material, with this is a hand written note from Professor Rigaud a mathematician Historian and Astronomer confirming that this is Sir Isaac Newton's signature 'Compare this with the last letter of his in the volume now in Trinity College Library and there is hardly a difference except in the shape of the last letter n', together with a ?1 note with Sir Isaac Newton displayed to the front, all items are attached to paper and mounted framed and glazed, condition overall is average although text is clear, overall size is 39cm x 39cm
