An extraordinary aspect is that this covers measures enacted during the very brief reign of Edward V – one of the tragic ‘Princes in the Tower’ – which lasted only a few weeks. William Whitaker was one of the leading churchmen of the age, and at the time of the publication of this book he had just been appointed Chancellor of St Paul’s from which position he became the leading champion of the teaching of the Church of England. A rare and sought after autograph.
