Ephemera – R100 Airships Visit of His Majesty’s airship R100 to Canada 1930

Ephemera – R100 Airships Visit of His Majesty’s airship R100 to Canada 1930. A very interesting 96 page Canadian publication detailing this visit of the newly constructed Airship to Montreal. With photographs and artists illustration of the Airship and the men involved etc. Text giving the development and construction the large airship designed to carry 100 passengers between England and Canada or England and India. Printed on fine gloss paper, size 8&frac12&times 11&frac14. The R100 was largely designed by Barns Wallis who later designed the Wellington bomber and the bouncing bomb of Dambusters fame. The Airship made a successful trial crossing to Canada and back, but although better designed and constructed, it was scrapped when Airship R101 crashed in France in 1931
