Ephemera – Lord Chamberlain’s Certificate for an opera at the Grecian Saloon, Hoxton, London. 1849. Certificate for Opera entitled “Touch not the Queen” in three acts. Royal Arms top centre, copper plate black printing with manuscript annotations and signatures. Size 8¾” × 11½”. Built 1832 as the pavilion to the Eagle Tavern of “Pop goes the Weasel” fame. The Greacian Saloon was rebuilt as a theatre in 1841, lasted until 1900. The Eagle still exists today as a Pub. First time I have had a Lord Chamberlains Certificate. In good clean condition.
