India rare Sikh inscribed Gold hilted Wootz Tulwar. Inscribed to the inside of the knuckle guard in Gurmukhi script. Traditionally manufactured in Lahore, such swords commonly carried the inscription “Akaal Sahai” (with God’s help), followed by the sword owners name and then the date written in the Samvat calendar. The “L” in the word ”Akaal” followed by “Sahai” are clearly visible. The rest of the inscription is hard to decipher as some of the characters are unfortunately absent. The blade shows a clear and uniform Wootz pattern and is of Shamshir form in origin. The back edge of the blade is decorated in Gold that runs down the entire length of the blade, and the hilt is thickly decorated in Gold damascene also. 3 cm wide blade at the forte.
