WWII – Bletchley Park an original glass sign reading ‘Ministry of Aviation/Sick Bay’ and measuring approx 43x20cm, with surrounding wooden case. The sign bears a sticker of the National Association of Postal Supervisors [of America], and bears a brass plaque reading : ‘Collection N.A.P.S. Washington DC Donated to Wm. Bundy. Arlington, VA. A salvaged memory from the Bletchley Park [sic] main gate sick back – gifted 1949 by Major A Leonard – GPO Radio Party Line, Dollis Hill, London. A statement from our vendor says that ‘this was an original sign from the top secret, and now world famous British Intelligence Code Breaking centre at Bletchley Park and was sent to Arlington, Virginia, USA as a gift to William ‘Bill’ Bundy, CIA agent and foreign affairs advisor to Presidents John F Kennedy and Lyndon B Johnson. ‘He was given it by a British MI6 Major  serving with special wireless bugging with the GPO known only as the ‘Party Liners’ a part of Dollis Hill and Washington DC Diplomatic wireless dept- this sign-may not be a sick bay, as it is still restricted. The huts near the Bletchley Park main gate were most secret until the late 1950s. A National Association of Postal Supervisors official museum seal is affixed to the rear of the glass. The remains of an airmail letter dated and signed 1961 by Elizabeth P McIntosh author of Sisterhood of Spies is also present.
