Nelson – Battle of the Nile interesting letter written by a W Pringle dated Edinburgh October 25th 1798, 4to, 1p, slight erosion affecting a few words but generally sound. A letter discussing the news of the day: ‘The accounts of Nelson’s victory was most glorious news…it had been a hard fought business – I am afraid by the accounts we had on Tuesday & this day that the Leander and Capt. Berry has fallen into the hands of the Genoese which escaped from the action and carried into Corfou [sic]. The action referred to is Nelson’s stunning victory on the Nile – the battle which effectively made his name.
