Harrowing original oil from the holocaust WWII – the Holocaust – Mauthausen Concentration Camp harrowing painting entitled THE REMAINS OF THE DAY MAUTHAUSEN. DUST TO DUST....size 60cm x 84cm. oil and mixed media heavy texture on canvas. Signed Moses Flashens Mauthausen RIP 45. Provenance: We have received the following statement from our vendor concerning this painting: ‘This work depicts the Anatomia Humana of the skull and Columna vertebral impressed in a heavy ash and oil fused mass, and was painted by a survivor of this infamous death camp and passed to a Spanish inmate interned by Franco who had survived some fifty months at Mauthausen, Jose Bravo Alarcon, who’s diary has recently been published. These pieces had been lost until rediscovered last year by family members. The reverse reads....THE REMAINS OF THE DAY DUST TO DUST.....Jose Bravo Alarcon, KLM GUSEN, MAUTHAUSEN Nr 1073, c.o. Le Consul General D’Espagne A Paris from my friend Frank Sandford, Ebensee Concentration Camp Rehab unit May 1945. After researching this painting, I am told that&nbspFrank Sandford was Lt Col Francis R, Stanford, Commanding officer of the Sub-Camp of Ebensee.
